Virtus provides various services, so depending on what your agreement is with Virtus, not all of the below may apply to you. Additional conditions may apply to you depending on where you reside; these are listed at the end of this Privacy Policy (the “Additional Terms”). To the extent there is any inconsistency, these Additional Terms override the other terms of this privacy policy.
We are committed to protecting your privacy as a user (referred to as “User”, “you” or “your”), and we take our duty for the security of your Personal Data (described below) extremely seriously. We will be up front and honest about the personal information we are gathering and what we plan to do with it.

We are Virtus (“Virtus”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the “data controller” (i.e., the organisation responsible) for all Personal Data that is collected and used via the platform for the purposes of data privacy laws, principles, and regulations which may apply to you.
We may ask for and collect your Personal Data (either directly through your use of the Website and Platform or when you communicate with us in any other way, or indirectly through our third party partners or providers) in a number of ways to provide you with the products or services that you request.

“Personal Data” is defined as any information or opinion about you that enables us to identify you, such as your name, phone number, social media username or “handle,” postal address, email address, information about the goods or services you have purchased, payment information, and details about how you access our websites.
Specifically, we may (either directly or indirectly) collect the following categories of Personal Data:
1. first and last names, email address and date of birth (this is mandatory information which we require when opening a user account or purchasing a guide on the Website or Platform (“User Account”));
2. other information such as country of residence and gender, home address and telephone number;
3. payment information, such as your transaction details, if you purchase something directly on the Virtus Website, Platform or from our e-commerce providers.

In addition to the personal data that we collect directly from you (as described above), we may also collect certain of your personal data from third party sources and combine that with information we collect through the Virtus website. We do not control, supervise or respond for how the third parties providing your information process your personal data, and any information request regarding the disclosure of your personal information to us should be directed to such third parties.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the Website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the Website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other Website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our Website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
